I just died and returned to the title screen. I'm still dead. How can I get my items back? Is there any way by using MCEdit or something?
I just went adventuring far far away from my home (about 30-40 minutes) and found some wolves. I wanted to tame one so I waited until dark to kill a skeleton. Knowing I had no sword with me, I killed it with my diamond axe and picked up the bones. Right when I turned around the tree I picked the bones from under, a creeper came and blew me up. It was so fast all I could see was a tiny glimpse and then BOOM. How can I get them back?

Don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back, don't look away, and DON'T blink.

Respawn and walk back to where you died and dropped them.
If you returned to title screen and came back, the items won't despawn in the usual 5 minutes.

I had about 3/4 of my inventory filled with full stacks of wood, a diamond pickaxe, a diamond axe, a wooden hoe, 2 stacks of sugarcane, and a few other things I can't remember.

I don't know where that is. I live in a snow biome, and I was about 90-120 chunks away from home.

I'm thinking of just changing my spawn point, gathering my items when I respawn, and then change it back to my home. The thing is, I can't remember where my home is.
The good thing is, on MCEdit it shows what areas you loaded/traveled through by having a large path of squares. I can just follow that possibly.

For the future....If you install Rei's Minimap, it has a death icon you can enable which will let you see where you died making it A LOT easier to navigate back there. It is also nice for marking other things like your home base, cave entrances, etc. I will admit that I tend to get "lost" a lot and love Rei's Minimap Mod. It has been updated to 1.0.0 already as well as TMI. Hope that helps you for the future! :biggrin.gif:

As above posters have said, Rei's MiniMap is a good idea. But to prevent future loss of items, if cheats are enabled you can use the command '/gameRule keepInventory true'. It's cheating, yes, but it works.

I would like to tell you about free web hosting service I use now.
Register here:http://adf.ly/1Nmv68
They give 1500 MB of disk space and 100 GB data transfer. I am now using them for about 3 months and never seen any downtime of server problems. There is no any kind of advertising on my pages too, so I think its worth to signup.

Have you figured out how to find your inventory? Before you respawn, use your F3 key to find your location (X,Y). When you respawn, you will have to walk back to that location and it should be there.
